White water rafting has three levels according to their difficulty: Extreme, Advanced and Beginner Level.
Advanced level will be treated to 20 rapids, while Beginner has 12 rapids. Extreme offers a set wilder rapid.
Cost of Beginners is P700 per head, P1,000 for Advanced and P2,000 for Extreme. Minimum number of persons vary from level to level. Beginner and Advance requires 6 persons, while Extreme requires 20 persons per trip.
It there are less than the minimum in your group, you can be joined by other groups.
The trip takes around 18 kilometers of river ride on an inflatable boats. In between rapids, you can swim along the boat. Advance level takes around 3.5 to 4 hours for the whole trip. It winds up in Tabula resort near the Airport. At the resort, you can change clothes, take a bath and have some lunch. Rafting is normally in the morning. Last recommended trip is at 1pm. Most rafting companies provide safe deposit for you valuables that cannot get wet. They are under supervision of Department of Tourism. They have uniform rates and their staff com guide undergo regular training in water safety.
One can also book ahead of time. If you are flying in to Cagayan de Oro, you can arrange with the rafting company to pick you up from the airport in Barangay Lumbia (about an hour to Cagayan de Oro proper). The jeepney that brings you to the rafting stations (that also hauls your rubber boats) can meet you at the airport and brings you straight to the stations. Trip is around 30-45 minutes. The same jeepney can also bring you back to the airport after your adventure. So you can fly in to Cagayan, do white water rafting, and fly out all in the same day.
